In addition to creating inspiring and educational work, being agents of social change, and catalyzing economic activity in commercial districts, arts and cultural organizations also recognize that they are vulnerable to displacement and the impact of current Bay Area market conditions. This workshop is designed for nonprofit organizations that are thinking about rent increases, lease expirations, or getting new office or program space.
What do you need to be thinking about now to undertake a capital project or lease new space in the future? How do you assess what you need and what you can afford? What does the entire process look like? Led by consultants from the Northern California Community Loan Fund (NCCLF), this workshop will be the first in a series of two sessions to provide a systematic approach to assessment and readiness for a move to a new space.
Stephaney Kipple has in-depth knowledge of community development finance and social purpose real estate, and she is passionate about creating positive community impact while providing value to socially responsible developers and investors. She spends her time thinking about and designing equitable development strategies in terms of community, community facilities, and urban design. Stephaney holds an M.Sc. in Urban Policy Analysis and Management from The New School for Public Engagement.
Andrea Papanastassiou has over twenty years of experience working in affordable housing and community development. Previously, Andrea was the Director of Real Estate Development for Eden Housing, Inc. and spent ten years in Real Estate Development at MidPen Housing, two of the Bay Area’s most effective and successful affordable housing organizations. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Nonprofit Housing Association of Northern California. Andrea holds a B.A. from Brown University with Honors in Environmental Studies and Urban Studies and an M.A. in Urban Planning from UCLA.
Jack Tse has over ten years of consulting experience in local area revitalization, real estate, and land development. Prior to joining NCCLF, Jack worked in private consulting in Australia, a local government in Canada, and most recently, a community-based non-profit in San Francisco. Jack is passionate about urban revitalization, building communities, and sports. Jack holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Business from the University of Western Australia and a master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of British Columbia.
