Legacy Laureates | Roy and PJ Hirabayashi
Roy and PJ Hirabayashi founded San Jose Taiko in 1973 and have toured with Kodo and Ondekoza, and performed with various jazz musicians, dancers, actors, and performance artists. Read more about them here.
On the Wall | Consuelo Jimenez Underwood
Consuelo Jimenez Underwood is most well known for her textiles and installation work. Her work represents her own history as a migrant agricultural worker, signifying her hybrid culture as well as the arbitrary lines that divide her homes. Read more about her here.
On Stage | Van-Anh Vanessa Vo
Van-Anh Vanessa Vo devotes her life-long passion and mastery of the dan tranh zither to the creation of distinctive music blended with a cultural essence that can only come from this unique Vietnamese instrument. Read more about her here.
Off Stage | Lisa Mallette
Now in her tenth season at City Lights, and her seventh as Executive Artistic Director, Lisa is also a member of the Theatre Bay Area Board of Directors, and chairs the TBA Theatre Services Committee. Read more about her here.
Emerging Artist | Ryan Carrington
Ryan Carrington works as a lecturer at San Jose State University teaching sculpture, foundry work, and mold making. Having received his MFA in spatial art from SJSU he went on to earned his BFA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in ceramics and woodworking. Read more about him here.
